IFPTI LAUNCHES THE 2016-17 FELLOWSHIP IN FOOD PROTECTION

BATTLE CREEK, Mich., September 19 –  IFPTI  today announced the launch of Cohort VI of the Fellowship in Food Protection Program. The Program provides future regulatory leaders with an intensive professional development experience focused on critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills within the framework of food regulatory science, law, and policy. The Fellowship in Food Protection Program welcomes thirteen fellows in 2016.

The Fellowship in Food Protection Program is a year-long program that includes a series of three week-long sessions at IFPTI’s global headquarters in Battle Creek, Mich. The Fellows will also complete research projects during the year and present their findings at the 2017Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) Conference.

“In its sixth year, the Fellowship Program prepares regulatory leaders from across the nation to meet the challenges of protecting our global food supply in a rapidly changing environment,” said Julia Bradsher, President and CEO of IFPTI. “The program also gives our fellows an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of the challenges and issues faced by the food industry in responding to and complying with food safety laws in the United States.”

The sixth cohort of the Fellowship Program has been made possible through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and by sponsors including the Food Marking Institute Foundation (FMI), Meijer, Inc, Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO), Smuckers, The Kellogg Company, Dominos Pizza, and The Institute for Food Technologists (IFT).
