The Laboratory National Curriculum Standard Buildout Continues

During the week of February 5th, 2024, IFPTI and the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) facilitated an in-person meeting with national laboratory subject matter experts (shown in the photo below) who have been building the Laboratory National Curriculum Standard (NCS). The meeting was held at APHL’s new office in downtown Bethesda, MD.

During the meeting, the group finalized the competencies (and behavioral anchors) built out for laboratory professionals at both the Expert and Director Level, and also finalized the competencies for the Emerging Analytical Challenges content area for Mid-Level laboratory professionals.

The Laboratory NCS will be featured as part of a breakout session at the APHL Annual Conference on May 7th in Milwaukee. The session is entitled Charting the Future: Leveraging National Competency Standards in a Cutting-Edge Regulatory and Laboratory Training System, and will feature an update on FDA’s Regulatory and Laboratory Training System (RLTS), along with the practical applications of the Laboratory NCS.
