Vince Radke had worked at the Environmental Health Services Branch of the National Center for Environmental Health at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) from 2001 until October, 2018. He worked on food safety issues, vector control, emergency preparedness & response and training of environmental health specialist. Prior to CDC, Vince spent 22 years in the environmental health field at the state and local levels in the states of CT, WV, VA and MN.
Vince is a Registered Environmental Health Specialist, a Certified Professional in Food Safety, and holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to environmental health, Vince was part of the Smallpox Eradication Program, first as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ethiopia (1970 – 74) and then later as a technical advisor with the World Health Organization in Bangladesh (1976) and Kenya (1977–78). He was Chair of the Board Directors of the American Academy of Sanitarians (AAS),2014-15. Vince is a Diplomate Laureate of the AAS. He became Certified in Public Health (CPH) in 2008. Vince has been President of both the National Capital Area Environmental Health Association and Virginia Environmental Health Association.
Vince has received The Order of the Bifurcated Needle from the World Health Organization in 1980 for his work during the Smallpox Eradication program. Also he has received the ADM Jerrold M. Michael Award from the National Capital Area Environmental Health Association twice in 1998 and 1999, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Secretary’s Award for Distinguished Service in 2005 and the Distinguished Service and Professional Achievement Award from the Environmental Section of the American Public Health Association in 2006. Vince was honored with 2011 EPA Bronze Medal Award. In 2012 Vince was inducted into the Delta Omega National Honor Society of the Schools of Public Health. In 2013 Vince received the NSF International Walter F. Snyder Award as well as the 2013 Past Presidents Award from the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA). Vince has served on the Board of Directors of NEHA for the past 5 years. He was President of NEHA 2018-2019.
