Global Food & Medical Devices
IFPTI played a crucial role in setting the competency standard for government regulators of food and medical products in low- to middle-income countries (LMIC). In collaboration with the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society, the World Health Organization, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, IFPTI convened an international Expert Panel representing governmental agencies, national and international organizations, academia, industry, and other stakeholders. The Expert Panel developed the Global Food and Medical Product Curriculum Framework (shown below), which helped define the basic core competencies of a regulatory professional working with food and/or medical products in LMIC regions. The Global Framework serves as the foundation upon which an education and training curriculum can be built.
