Regulatory and Laboratory Training System (RLTS) Announcement

On April 2, 2024, FDA hosted a stakeholder conference call to discuss the release of the Integrated Food Safety System (IFSS) Regulatory and Laboratory Training System (RLTS) Strategic Plan.

The call was intended for federal, state, local, tribal, territorial (SLTT), and association regulatory and laboratory officials who receive, provide, or participate in FDA manufactured human food, produce, eggs, retail food, Grade “A” milk/dairy, molluscan shellfish, and animal food training.

The Strategic Plan is the result of a collaborative effort involving more than thirty representatives from FDA’s human and animal food (HAF) programs, SLTT regulatory and laboratory association partners, and the Partnership for Food Protection, all of whom share a vision for training in an IFSS.

The Stakeholder Conference Call included an interactive panel discussion with members of the RLTS Steering Committee, and also included an update on the National Curriculum Standards (NCS) for human and animal food regulatory and laboratory professionals that will serve as the foundation for the RLTS.

Speakers on the call included representatives from the multiple associations that comprise the RLTS Advisory Committee, FDA, IFPTI, PFP, NASDA, ASTHO, AFDO, APHL, AAFCO, NACCHO, NEHA, CFP, ISSC, NCIMS, CDC, FSIS, and Eagle Hill.
