IFSS Training System: National Curriculum Standard

Plan Review and Special Processes

In May 2020, significant progress was made within the Retail Food area of the National Curriculum Standard, or NCS.

Two Retail food subject matter expert work groups drafted a national standard for two content areas, Plan Review and Special Processes, for advanced level regulators. The work completed comprised a set of competencies (knowledge, skills, and abilities) along with corresponding behavioral anchors.

Building the national standard for the human and animal food regulatory workforce is being overseen by FDA's Office of Training Education and Development (OTED) through a Cooperative Agreement with IFPTI.
