During the first week of November the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL), through a cooperative agreement with FDA OTED (U18FD007046), will be distributing a survey to laboratory subject matter experts. The purpose of the survey is to validate competencies for the Mid-Level content areas found in the Human and Animal Food Laboratory Professionals Curriculum Framework.

The content areas that will be examined are:

  • Advanced Quality Techniques

  • Evidentiary Integrity

  • Human and Animal Food Incident Response

  • Laboratory Networks, Collaborations, and Interagency Programs

  • Legal Proceedings

  • Method Evaluation and Selection

  • Root Cause Analysis

The competencies and behavioral anchors for these content areas were developed by subject matter experts from federal and state laboratories. Once the survey results have been tabulated the initial workgroup will review these results and make any needed edits to the competencies prior to the competencies being used for gap analysis and/or course development.

If you are a state or federal laboratory professional and would like to help us validate these competencies please complete this survey before November 30, 2020.
