Reconstructing Learning Experiences
Part 2
Virtual Instructor Led Training
As we explore new ways to structure training using evolving technologies and approaches, we can incorporate both asynchronous and synchronous remote learning experiences, such as virtual Instructor Led Training (vILT), which is also known as virtual classroom training (VCT). vILT is best suited for the second level of Bloom’s taxonomy, which is comprehension or understanding.
One of the unique characteristics of vILT is that the instructors/facilitators and the learners are all typically geographically separated but are still able to interact through communications technologies like learning management systems or video conferencing platforms. The key component of vILT is learning through interaction, which includes interaction between learner and the content, interaction between peers, and interaction between the learning and the instructor.
Overall, vILT provides an effective and engaging approach to learning, as it allows learners to interact with each other and with the instructor in real-time, regardless of their physical location.
Next month we will discuss Live Remote Instructor Led Training, how it differs from vILT, and when it can be used.
