Research to Estimate the Governmental Food Safety Workforce Published

IFPTI’s Dr. Craig Kaml, Dr. Chris Weiss, and Gerald Wojtala worked alongside Dr. Kieran Fogarty and Bryan Harmer of Western Michigan University and Dr. Paul Dezendorf of Western Carolina University to develop a model to estimate the governmental food safety workforce population. This work is imperative to inform of the resource needs for staffing and competency-based training as well as to increase awareness of the necessity and availability of a standardized training curriculum for the workforce. The full article outlining the method and application, “Governmental Food Safety Professional Workforce Estimation Model”, can be found in the April 2022 Journal of Environmental Health.
