The IFSS Basic Level Imports course will provide introductory knowledge, skills, and abilities related to the regulation of feed and food products grown, produced or manufactured outside of or returned to the U.S.
Goal: Participants will be able to identify the import process in regulatory programs.
Scope: Topics in this course include Foundations, Laws and Regulations, Entry Process, Inspection, Investigation, Compliance and Enforcement Actions, and Import Fraud
Course Objectives
Foundations
Identify agencies involved in the import process,
Define relevant terminology,
Recognize the process for imported human and animal food products, and
Identify examples of regulatory enforcement actions.
Laws and Regulations
Identify jurisdiction over imported products,
Identify import regulations,
Recognize agency regulations,
Identify the various agencies regulating imported product, and
Define appearance of a violation as it relates to imports.
Entry Process
Define the entry process,
Identify entry submission requirements,
Identify entry documentation,
Recognize types of entry, and
Identify examples of import admissibility decisions.
Inspection
Recognize import field activities,
Recognize the importance of sampling, and
Define the purpose of filer evaluation.
