Communication Skills

The IFSS Basic Level Communications Skills course provides introductory knowledge, skills, and abilities related to effective communication in the regulatory field.

  • Goal: Participants will be able to recognize the skills required for an effective communicator in the regulatory field.

  • Scope: Topics in this course include Foundations, Skills, Situational Awareness, and Policies.

Data and Information Systems

The IFSS Basic Level Data Information Systems course provides introductory knowledge, skills, and abilities related to systems used by regulatory agencies to store, process, and manage data and information.

  • Participants will be able to identify examples of internal and external data and information systems.

  • Scope: Topics in this course include Foundations, Collaborative Information Management Systems, Data Management, Access and Control, and Regulatory Applications and Software. 

Personal Safety

This IFSS Basic Level Personal Safety course provides introductory knowledge, skills, and abilities related to hazards encountered by regulators, and appropriate protective actions to mitigate hazards.

  • Participants will be able to recognize safe practices based on assessment of risk.

  • Scope: Topics in this course include Foundations, Chemical Hazards, Equipment Hazards, and Physical and Environmental Hazards.

Professionalism

This IFSS Basic Level course provides introductory knowledge, skills, and abilities related to ethics, integrity, and personal conduct during job-related activities. 

  • Goal: The student will be able to exhibit the use of integrity and positive interpersonal conduct in the performance of professional and personal activities.

  • Scope: Topics covered in this course include foundations, ethics, conduct, personal management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
