Food Establishment GMPs
The Food System Hazards bundle includes Labeling, Pest control, Plumbing Controls for Commercial Food Establishments, and Sanitation Practices. All four courses are developed with FDA to align to the IFSS basic level and are online, self-paced courses. Here is a brief description of each course (click on title for more information):
Labeling
The IFSS Basic Level Labeling course provides introductory knowledge, skills, and abilities related to labeling requirements, and the components of human and animal food product labels.
Goal: Participants will be able to recognize label requirements.
Scope: Topics in this course include Foundations, Labeling Components, Labeling Laws and Regulation.
Pest Control
This IFSS Basic Level Pest Control course provides introductory knowledge, skills, and abilities related the management of pests that can be perceived to be detrimental to the production of safe human food and food for animals.
Goal: Explain how pest activity can impact food safety.
Scope: Covered by competencies/learning objectives listed.
Plumbing Controls for Commercial Food Establishments
This IFSS Basic Level Plumbing Controls for Commercial Food Establishments provides knowledge, skills, and abilities related to the delivery, distribution or storage of potable and non-potable water in a manufacturing food facility and retail food establishment.
Goal: Discuss how plumbing affects public health.
Scope: Covered by competencies/learning objectives listed.
Sanitation Practices
After completion of this IFSS Basic Level course participants will be able to exhibit introductory knowledge, skills, and abilities related to the importance of sanitary design and practices.
Topics include foundations of Sanitation, Cleaning, Sanitizing, Disinfecting, Sanitary Engineering, and Educational Resources.
